Engineering a Functional Articulated Trolleybus Model
The project preserves the appearance of a modern articulated transit vehicle while integrating practical moving features into a robust physical model.
The long body, flexible centre section and roof-mounted collector poles make an articulated trolleybus more demanding to reproduce than a conventional bus. The vehicle proportions, cab profile, doors, windows, axle positions, articulated bellows and roof equipment therefore had to be coordinated as one complete structure.
The finished 1:42 Yutong dual-source articulated trolleybus model combines an alloy body with accurately fitted plastic and functional components. It includes opening passenger doors, an opening rear engine cover, front-wheel steering, adjustable collector poles and a movable articulation system.
The project was created to turn the full-size vehicle into a durable corporate gift and collector piece. Its value comes from faithfully reproducing the real bus structure, livery and visible functions in a format that customers can display and keep.

3D Data and Prototype
The customer’s real vehicle or equipment data is scaled and adjusted for model production. Wall thickness, assembly clearance, moving parts and visible details are re-engineered before a physical prototype is produced for approval.
Tooling and Metal Sample
Production tooling is manufactured using CNC and precision machining processes. A metal sample is assembled, painted and printed to verify fit, appearance and functions close to the intended production standard.
Production, QC and Delivery
Approved models move through die casting, injection moulding, painting, pad printing, assembly, function testing, appearance inspection, packaging and shipment according to the confirmed project requirements.

Batch Quality Management
Production control covers casting, moulded parts, painting, printing, assembly fit, moving functions and final appearance. Particular attention is given to body alignment, drilling positions, articulation, door gaps, left/right tyre orientation, transparent parts and clean assembly before packaging.
Component Inspection
Alloy parts are checked for cold shuts, bubbles, pinholes, broken edges, blocked holes and polishing marks. Plastic parts are checked for sink marks, burrs, scratches and colour contamination; glazing must remain bright and clean.
Paint and Printing Control
Painted parts are checked for overspray, missed areas, dust, orange peel, colour variation, paint build-up and insufficient surface hardness. Printed graphics must remain clean and correctly positioned.
Function and Appearance Testing
Cab and body alignment, opening parts, steering, wheels, suspension, articulation and collector poles are checked for correct fit and movement without being too loose or too tight.
Assembly and Final Review
Assembly is checked for missing parts, visible glue residue and incorrect tyre orientation. Every confirmed function and the complete exterior finish are reviewed before protective packaging.
